Background and Client Experience

I am a writer and media specialist with 25 years of experience in broadcast and print journalism and more than 10 years as a media trainer and PR professional.

.Active in Japan since 1996, I train corporate executives and government officials. As a writer, I contribute to Foreign Policy and a range of websites. I also teach on media issues at The Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.

During my news career, I was deputy Tokyo bureau chief for The Wall Street Journal. I also served as the Tokyo and New York bureau chiefs for Reuters News as well as the editor for South Asia, based in Mumbai. Prior to joining Reuters, I spent five years working for CBS News at the network’s headquarters in New York.

In the public relations field, I was a director, managing director and then partner for Gavin Anderson Japan. Client experience includes United Airlines, Robert Walters Japan, Hilton Hotels and The World Bank. I also headed the Japan team as part of a global program on behalf of the office of the President of the Russian Federation.

I grew up in the New York area and have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Stanford University.

Why Work With Me?

An understanding of what both the executive and reporter are seeking in an interview and the best ways to achieve success. The training will include building your skills as well as what corporate messages will resonate with your audience (and which will not). The focus is on practical advice, not “communication theory.”
